COMME des GARÇONS "the Beauty of Imperfection"

No.3, Wonderwood..... what's up next? It's the COMME des Garcons new perfume.

A perfume described as "industrialized flower to go with glue, an imaginary flower from an unknown civilization." Purposely taking a bottle that has been disqualified from existence and purposefully giving it its right to exist. The bottle itself is partially hand blown with recycled materials giving glass a new life. The fragrance opens with a man made organic composites of aldehydes and safraleine, slowly to hawthorns and derivations of lilac, before exploding in a riot of flower oxides, then finally the industrial glue and brown scotch tape with hints of musk and styrax. Can you imagine?

Versace for H&M

Look at these gorgeous pieces by Versace for H&M! Strong color, wild print and glamorous attitude, you may find the elements that have made the house of Versace legendary. This iconic collection includes a classic black silk crepe dress has gold Grecian buttons on its patent straps. For night time shine, multi-color sequin dresses are covered in archival Versace prints, short metallic dresses come in either silver or gold, and strong color shift dresses are embellished with studs in classic Greek motifs. Every single detail contains the spirit of Versace, a touch that will touch your heart and shine!

"The collection for H&M is the essence of Versace. For the collaboration we've brought back from the archives, as well as from more recent collections, some of the icons of Versace, such as the bright prints, the Greek key and daring cuts. I can't wait to see how H&M's wide audience will make these pieces their own." Donatella Versace.

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier

Just made a trip to Montreal Museum of Fine Arts to view The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition. Lucky to catch the show before it ends on October 2, 2011. From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk, the first international exhibition devoted to the celebrated French couturier. More of a contemporary installation than a fashion exhibition retrospective, this major exhibition, which features 140 ensembles and numerous documents, is particularly innovative in the theatrical mise en scene and multimedia approach provided by UBU/Compagnie de creation's animated mannequins. It's also amazing to see all the details and craftsmanship of the couture pieces that were seen in fashion show videos and documentaries.

Jean Paul Gaultier has always been one of my favorite fashion designers. In the documentary "The Day Before" filmed by Loic Prigent, witnessing the crucial moment of Gaultier's creative lives as of the day before the fashion show. The stress, craftsmanship and ideas are keywords in this very secret world of luxury fashion. The cameras dances through his studio, ateliers, PR offices, and never misses a beat. The film takes us to run against time shoulder to shoulder with Jean and sharing his point of view in the industry and life.
